Barcelona appeared mighty to beat Girona with a score of 4-1 in the 2024/2025 La Liga match jornada 5 held at the Estadio Municipal de Montilivi, Sunday (15/9/2024).
Lamine Yamal became the star of Barcelona’s victory by scoring two goals. The other two goals were scored by Dani Olmo and Pedri. Girona managed to reduce the deficit thanks to Cristhian Stuani’s goal.
Thanks to this result, Barcelona is increasingly firmly perched at the top of the standings with 15 points from five matches. On the other hand, Girona is now in seventh place with 7 points.
Barcelona played aggressively since the start of the second half. However, Barcelona was only able to break the deadlock when the match had been going on for half an hour through Yamal’s clever action in stealing the ball from David Lopez.
Seven minutes later, Yamal again shook Paulo Gazzaniga’s goal. This time he took advantage of a loose ball to release a curved shot that nestled in Girona’s goal.

Girona refused to give up even though they were four goals behind. In the 80th minute, Stuani tapped the ball from close range to break into Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s goal and reduce the deficit to 1-4.
Barcelona had to lose Ferran Torres in the 86th minute. Torres was given a red card after stepping on Yaser Asprilla’s foot. Barcelona were able to maintain their 4-1 lead until the match ended.
