Grosjean determined not to repeat this year’s mistakes

Haas Grosjean

Romain Grosjean, Haas Formula 1 Team driver, expresses that he will not be able to let go if he is condemned to repeat the mistakes. His 2018 Formula 1 season was spoiled by multiple mistakes in the first half of the season.

The Frenchman kicked off his season with a strong presence at Melbourne Grand Prix Circuit. But he ran into a trouble during a pit-stop, which was only the start of his troubles. He later ran into incidents and accidents which shadowed his future at Haas F1 team.

However, he managed to manage himself and revisited his mental approach toward his behavior at track. His efforts to manage himself helped him to perform better. He gave a strong finish to the team, which helped him secure his F1 seat for next year.

Grosjean, while answering to question as to what remedies will he take for next season to perform, said: “Definitely not have the same mistakes as I had this year.

“I don’t think I would pardon myself if I had another start of the season as I had.

“Definitely a lot learned this year, understanding what had happened.

“I remember the week before the German Grand Prix I called my manager and I said ‘I’m back’. Even before driving the car I said ‘I’m back’ and I was back.

“It was just like everything went in the right place and it was like ‘fuck, this, this, this, this, and sort that out’ and I moved on.

“It was a great experience: things that you don’t even realise can bother you.”

Grosjean is being appreciated for his efforts, which helped him to be back on his performance track especially after infamous corner crash in 2012.

But this year’s recovery is more special to him because of the level of the efforts that he had to put in to his consciousness for his low performance diagnosis.

“It’s been interesting, and I’m quite proud of the way I bounced back as well,” he said.

“At one point people were thinking I should stay at home. I thought that I still had it. And I still had it, I just needed to understand why I was just not getting it right.”

Grosjean added to a question whether now he categorically knows to keep himself on his performance curve.

He said: “I hope so, I hope so. You never know until you’ve done it.

“But so far I’ve always learned my lessons and not done the same mistake twice and hopefully that’s the same case again.”
