Guardiola praises Kevin de Bruyne

Manchester City have gone eight games without a defeat in all competitions this season, this is a club record which the City boss, Pep Guardiola isn’t taking lightly. The Blues claimed their eight victory of the season by beating Bournemouth at home 4-0. This further extends their lead at the top of the table with fifteen points. City are the only team in the league with 100% wins. The Bournemouth victory is a follow up to the Manchester derby win last week, among the goals and victories the City striker, Sergio Aguero has been pivotal however Guardiola believes Kevin De Bruyne has had an even bigger impact on the team performance.

The Spaniard talked about de Bruyne’s performances and labelled them as ‘terrific’. He also claimed that KdB is in a league very close to that of Lionel Messi, if not in the same. Over his coaching career Pep has had the chance to coach players like Messi, Arjen Robben, Ribery, Xavi, Iniesta, Muller and alike and he believes de Bruyne is one of the best players he has had the pleasure of working with.

Guardiola said: “Messi is on a table on his own. No-one else is allowed. But the table beside, Kevin can sit there.”

“Kevin is outstanding player,” he said. “Without the ball he is the first fighter. With the ball he is clear. He sees absolutely everything.

“He makes the right decision in the right moment every single time.”

The Belgian has bagged eighteen goals with sixteen assists in 48 games for the Blues since joining from Wolfsburg. He scored within fifteen minutes against Manchester United and again against Bournemouth this week.

Guardiola told the City press, “The performance from Kevin was terrific, He is an outstanding player.”

“Without the ball he’s a fighter and with the ball he’s clear, he sees everything. He is one of the best, there is no doubt about that. We are lucky to have him.

“But to be the best, you have to win titles. Maybe I am wrong but I think he would like to win these individual prizes.”

Guardiola was asked whether his side were finding it a little ‘too easy’ this season in their sailings and might start to take it for granted. However the City boss reiterated

“That is not going to happen when I am here, “I have heard for a long time the Premier League is the hardest league in the world. I am not going to accept now it is easy.

“We are in September. We have played absolutely nothing.”
