Veteran England tactician Harry Redknapp also responded to rumors of Harry Kane’s departure from Tottenham Hotspur. The former Tottenham tactician also gave his advice to Kane.
Kane became a hot topic in the 2021 summer transfer market. Because Kane did not appear when other Tottenham players, who competed in the 2020 European Cup and 2021 Copa America, had returned for pre-season training.
It also heated rumors of Kane’s departure from Tottenham in the 2021 summer transfer market. Rumors said Manchester City would be Kane’s new port in the 2021-2022 season.
Kane’s absence from Tottenham’s pre-season training indirectly confirmed his intention to join Man City. The reason Kane wants to move to Man City is to win trophies.
Former Tottenham player, Ramon Vega, was quite surprised by Kane’s attitude of not attending pre-season training in order to force a club move. He criticized Kane, calling him disrespect for the club.
“From Harry Kane’s point of view, he has absolutely no respect for himself as a fan, as a player. He has no respect for the club. Most importantly, the fans too,” Vega told Sky Sports, quoted by the Mirror, Tuesday (3/8/2021).
“From my point of view, as England captain, he has to come (in pre-season training) and say what he wants to do, and that would be more respected than just hiding and not coming to the training ground. I think it’s important that the message now is what Harry Kane wants to do?” he said.
Like Vega, Redknapp was surprised by Kane’s attitude. He advised Kane to come to pre-season training, then spoke with Tottenham owner Daniel Levy to work things out about his future.
“I would have thought that he would show up and see Daniel again. I’m sure his advisors met with Daniel,” Redknapp told talkSPORT, quoted by HITC.
“I was a bit surprised (by Kane’s attitude). I’m sure he will come to training today. (this is) not the best way to do it. He is loved at Tottenham,” he said.
