Manchester United are eyeing the market in search of a strike partner for Cristiano Ronaldo. According to The Athletic, Kane is the main target to be the club’s new striker next season.
Tottenham’s number 10 has a contract with the London club until June 2024, but has not expressed a desire to renew it.
The Athletic added Jorge Mendes, Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent, would be responsible for wanting Manchester to signing in Kane.
United had been linked to the Tottenham striker last season after the 28-year-old told club chairman Daniel Levy he wanted to leave Spurs to pursue trophies and domestic success elsewhere.
Even so, the agent also works with other names for the club, in case the negotiation for Kane does not go ahead. Benfica star Darwin Nunez, and Tammy Abraham, ex-Chelsea and currently at Roma, are on the list of new signings.
Meanwhile, United legend Gary Neville is likely to be pleased with his old club’s interest when it comes to signing Kane this summer.
“I would want to see a centre forward. Chelsea have gone and bought [Romelu] Lukaku, Man City are after Kane and got [Jack] Grealish. We got [Jadon] Sancho and [Raphael] Varane and they are good signings but I don’t think it’s enough.” Neville said.
“For me, I’d be going all-out to get Kane at Old Trafford. All-out. If City are going to sign Kane, why can’t we get Kane? We can compete.
“Last year we said we needed a centre forward, a right winger and a centre back. if they got Jadon Sancho, Varane and Kane they would have a great chance [of winning the league].” he added.
Ralf Rangnick’s side to fave Leicester City on Saturday, in the Premier League, at Old Trafford. With 50 points, United are sixth in the competition.
