Real Madrid star, Eden Hazard, reportedly wants to return to Chelsea in the near future. The rumor was reported by one of the media from Spain, El Chiringuito, on Monday (24/5/2021). According to El Chiringuito journalist Edu Aguirre, Eden Hazard is currently unhappy at Real Madrid for two reasons.
First, Eden Hazard does not like rumors that Real Madrid want to bring in a young Paris Saint-Germain star, Kylian Mbappe. Second, Eden Hazard wants to return to his career after in the last two seasons he has been more often in the treatment room of Real Madrid.
Eden Hazard officially joined Real Madrid at the start of the 2019-2020 season. Real Madrid at that time spent a transfer fee of 100 million euros to bring Hazard from Chelsea. Los Blancos, nicknamed Real Madrid, also gave Eden Hazard a long-term contract for five years until June 2024.
After two years, the huge investment made by Real Madrid to bring Eden Hazard was arguably not going according to plan. This is because the Belgian player has suffered more injuries than playing on the field. Until now, Eden Hazard has only contributed five goals and eight assists from a total of 43 appearances for Real Madrid.
In detailed, Eden Hazard’s total playing time in the last two seasons has only reached 2,441 minutes. Eden Hazard’s stats look even worse as his playing time has decreased from 1,545 minutes to just 896 minutes in his second season. Evidence that Eden Hazard has been sidelined more frequently due to injury than playing is the number of games the Belgian has missed.
Quoted from the Transfermarkt website, Eden Hazard was noted to have missed a total of 59 Real Madrid matches due to various reasons such as muscle, hamstring, ankle injuries and being infected with the corona virus. Most recently, Hazard missed the last week of the Spanish League against Villarreal, Saturday (22/5/2021).
According to the Real Madrid coach, Zinedine Zidane, Hazard could not appear at that time due to a minor injury to his leg. Zidane’s statement raises questions because before the match against Villarreal, Eden Hazard was noted to have never missed Real Madrid’s seven consecutive matches.
Not only that, on Monday (17/5/2021), Eden Hazard was also officially included in the list of 26 players that the Belgian national team will bring to Euro 2020. In the announcement, the Belgian national team coach, Roberto Martinez, stated that Eden Hazard is currently in shape and ready to appear at Euro 2020. The differences between Roberto Martinez and Zinedine Zidane’s statements in the last week have indirectly triggered speculation regarding Eden Hazard’s future.
