Iga Swiatek supports well-documented mental health, including after he played the Ostrava Open in the 2022 season.
The Polish player’s commitment to this left another mark after her three-set loss to Czech Barbora Krejcikova in the Ostrava Open final.
In an on-court interview, the 2022 French Open champion revealed that he would donate the prize money he received from the Ostrava Open to a Polish non-profit organization dedicated to mental health.
Open about working with sports psychologist Daria Abramowicz since her breakthrough in winning the 2020 French Open, the world number 1 first donated prize money for mental health last season at Indian Wells in honor of World Mental Health Day which is usually celebrated on October 10.

The 21-year-old again demonstrated that commitment as part of a speech at the Ostrava Open trophy presentation ceremony, where he also took the time to thank the fans who came from Poland to support him at the tournament.
While the 2022 US Open champion has yet to announce which charities will accept his contributions, he stated that he had several institutions in mind and made it clearer why he did so at his post-match press conference.
“I really wanted to play well in order to get a big enough prize money to donate and I feel quite happy that I was able to do that,” said Iga Swiatek.
“I really wanted to spread awareness and let people know they can use it to help those in need or help others if they have other resources. I feel quite happy to use my position in that way.”
Meanwhile, Swiatek will continue to play for the second week in a row at the San Diego Open which will start on October 10 local time. She got a bye in the first round and will start the San Diego Open against one of the Grand Slam champions, namely Garbine Muguruza or Elena Rybakina.
