Lorenzo Insigne rebelled against his club, Napoli. His attitude was taken after the management intended to cut salaries.
Lorenzo Insigne is currently yet to sign a contract extension with Napoli. The player’s agent, Vincenzo Pisacane, explained why his client had not wanted to extend his contract.
Inzinge’s contract with Napoli will expire at the end of this season, but Inzinge is still not willing to do a contract extension. This can not be separated from Napoli who made a 50 percent salary reduction in Inzinge’s new contract.
Meanwhile, Inzinge wants a raise in his new contract. In response to this, Pisacane gave a response regarding Inzinge’s contract issues.
Pisacane confirmed the pay cut, which was deemed too much for Inzinge to accept. He said if a club wanted to keep a player, they would offer a higher salary.
“I have to clarify that the contract offer comes with a 50 per cent pay cut. I am an agent and I have to defend the captain at any time,” Pisacane said as quoted by Tribal Football, Saturday (11/13/2021).
“Usually, you offer more money when you want to extend the contract. Lorenzo was surprised (with Napoli’s offer). There is mutual respect with Aurelio, but he knows that the proposal must be increased and not cut,” he said.
If Napoli fail to extend Inzinge’s contract until the end of the season, Inzinge will move to another club on a free transfer. Currently, many clubs have been monitoring Inzinge’s situation, ranging from Inter Milan, Chelsea to Barcelona who want to use his services.
Insigne, who managed to lead Italy to the European Cup 2020 title, this season still looks impressive with Napoli. Insigne has so far scored four goals in 11 appearances.
