Italian Serie A giants Inter Milan are reportedly considering making a move for Barcelona’s start midfielder Ivan Rakitic in January following his lack of playing time at the first team this season.
After the departure of Radja Nainggolan, Antonio Conte would be looking for new quality midfielders. The Italian manager is now looking to reinforce his midfield options and wants to be played with Rakitic who is said to have decided he wants to quit Camp Nou when the transfer window reopens.
Rakitic’s future at Barcelona has been the subject of intense speculation since Ernesto Valverde bought Frenkie de Jong from Ajax in the summer. Selling him would be a good idea right now but such offers should definitely be considered in January transfer window.
“I have two years left on my contract and there is no better place to be. It is the best club in the world. But I need to play and not just enjoy walks around the city and the beach.” Rakitic said.
“The truth is that I talked with people from the club and everyone knew I had options, it was no secret. If nothing changes we will have to sit down again with the club to talk.” he added.
Rakitic being a World Cup finalist, with that full experience and courage, he may turn up to be the best midfielder. However, this season he scored a total of 0 goals and 0 assists in the league, which places him at 15th in the Barca squad’s top scorer list.
The 31-year-old midfielder is a versatile and physical midfielder who can stake a claim on nearly every inch of the midfield. He’s an offensive-minded player, but he is also an avid defender when his team requires it.
Rakitic has good game vision and his passing capability is excellent. Throughout his career he’s stood out as great assister.
The Nerrazzuri sit in the Serie A table with 21 points from their eight games so far this season, only failing to win against leaders Juventus.
