Inter Milan managed to win in the second week of Serie A 2024/2025. Welcoming a visit from Lecce, the Nerazzurri won with a score of 2-0, Saturday (24/8/2024).

Competing at the Giuseppe Meazza, Inter opened the scoring through Matteo Darmian’s quick goal. After that, the Nerazzurri added a goal through Hakan Calhanoglu’s penalty in the second half.

Thanks to this result, Inter is in first place in the 2024/2025 Serie A standings with a collection of four points. Meanwhile, Lecce is slumped at the bottom of the standings.

Inter played without their captain Lautaro Martinez from the start. Simone Inzaghi fielded the duet Marcus Thuram and Mehdi Taremi up front.

Without Lautaro, Inter performed quite well in the first half. The Nerazzurri were able to score a quick goal when the match had only been going on for 5 minutes.

Matteo Darmian managed to get his name on the scoreboard. Starting from Federico Dimarco’s cross, the ball hit Mehdi Taremi’s head, then was met with a header by Darmian.

After that, Inter had the opportunity to add a goal through Federico Dimarco. However, the attempt made by the Italian national team defender did not produce results.

Lecce almost broke through Inter’s goal in injury time through Hamza Rafia from a narrow angle. The score of 1-0 for Inter’s advantage lasted until the first half ended.

Entering the second half, Inter did not relax their attacks. Marcus Thuram almost increased the Nerazzurri’s advantage in the 49th minute.

Inter got a penalty when the match entered the 68th minute. Marcus Thuram was brought down by Kialonda Gaspar in the penalty box.

Hakan Calhanoglu was trusted to be the executioner of the white spot. The midfielder from Turkey had no difficulty in putting the ball into the goal with a right-footed kick.

After that, Inter had several opportunities to score goals against Lecce. However, the score of 2-0 did not change until the long whistle sounded.
