Inter Milan won 1-0 dramatically over Sampdoria at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium in the fifth week of the Italian League Serie A competition on Sunday (9/23).
Inter Milan made a number of changes from starters when they beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 in the Champions League. Players like Stefan de Vrij and Ivan Perisic were not played from the start when they faced Sampdoria.
Early in the first half the hosts Sampdoria immediately attacked the Inter Milan defense through Fabio Quagliarella. But goalkeeper Samir Handanovic could still secure Quagliarella’s chances.
Inter also responded to Sampdoria’s attack through Antonio Candreva. It’s just that the counter attack can be blocked by the opponent’s defense line.
Both teams responded to each other during the first round. Radja Nainggolan, Candreva, Marcelo Brozovic, to Matias Vecino often try to break into la Samp’s goal. But Sampdoria’s defense is still too strong.
Inter Milan continued to attack in the second round. The Nerazzurri are still trying to dismantle Sampdoria’s solid wall through shots from outside and inside the penalty box.
Inter Milan striker and captain Mauro Icardi also tried his luck to register a name on the scoreboard. Unfortunately, Icardi’s header in the 56th minute had not met the target.
In this match Inter Milan winger Antonio Candreva successfully opened fire. But there is not a single goal created for the visitors from the 31-year-old player.
Luckily for Inter Milan have Marcelo Brozovic. The Croatian became a lucky bearer for the Blue-Black team after scoring in the 90th minute + 4 with a right-footed shot using a Perisic cross. Inter Milan can bring home three points dramatically. With this result Inter recorded two wins from the last five games in Serie A, with two other games leading to defeat.
Even so, the main spotlight was not on Inter’s dramatic winning goal, but rather on three goals before Brozovic scored. The end result of this fight can be different if the goals are passed.
Inter Milan were the first to become “victims” of the Video Assistant Referees (VAR) in the 43rd minute. Goals through a hard kick from Radja Nainggolan from outside the penalty box disallowed the referee because Antonio Candreva was in an offside position.
In the 87th minute, Kwadwo Asamoah’s goal was disallowed by referee Marco Guida. After seeing VAR, Guida judged the ball had left the match field before being passed to Asamoah.
Gregoire Defrel had the opportunity to cheer the hosts in the 89th minute. However, again the referee annulled the goal because VAR showed that the player was first offside.
Inter Milan are temporarily in 7th place with seven points from five matches. They are one step below Sampdoria who are on goal difference.
