The series of finals for the Indonesia Masters 2023 have been completed on Sunday (29/1/2023) evening. The end of the 2023 Indonesia Masters finals was marked by the final match in the men’s doubles sector between Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin (Indonesia) and He Ji Ting/Zhou Hao Dong (China). Leo/Daniel won after defeating He Ji Ting/Zhou Hao Dong in a straight game or two straight games.
Prior to that, there were final matches in four other sectors, including the men’s singles which presented by duel between Jonatan Christie and Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo. As a result, Jonathan Christie successfully won the 2023 Indonesia Masters. The championship titles in three other sectors were won by Liu Sheng Shu/Zhang Shu Xian (women’s doubles/China), An Se-young (women’s singles/Korea), and Feng Yan Zhe/Huang Dong Ping (mixed doubles/China).

An Se-young Hattrick Final
An Se-young managed to extend the positive trend after reaching the final of the Indonesia Masters 2023. Before reaching the final of the Indonesia Masters, An Se-young also appeared at the top of the Malaysia Open and India Open 2023. This means that South Korea’s mainstay of women’s singles has scored a final hat trick in the opening three tournaments this year.
An Se-young at the same time repeated the last achievement made by the former South Korean badminton player, Lee Yong-dae. Based on BWF data, Lee Yong-dae was the last badminton player before An Se-young to be able to reach the top party in the three opening tournaments earlier this year.

Chinese Women’s Doubles Win in the First Try
Chinese women’s doubles Liu Sheng Shu/Zhang Shu Xian won the 2023 Indonesia Masters after conclude the match against Yuki Fukushima/Sayaka Hirota (Japan). The achievement of Liu Sheng Shu/Zhang Shu Xian feels special because they were able to win the title in their first appearance at the BWF World Tour tournament. They just got paired a few months ago.
Liu Sheng Shu, who was only 18 years old, was previously paired with a number of other badminton players. In fact, she was once the world junior champion in the women’s doubles and mixed doubles sectors. Meanwhile, 23-year-old Zhang Shu Xian also partnered with other badminton players and won titles in several tournaments.
