Kevin Durant is one of the top stars in the NBA over the past decade, certainly. However, the failure of the Brooklyn Nets, raises growing doubt about the positive impact to the ace.
After all, why can’t he lead his team to win like other teams in the past? Durant is no longer the dominant NBA player of today, according to legend Isiah Thomas.
But Durant is 34 now, and he has suffered some significant injuries in recent years, including a torn Achilles in 2019.
“I realised that Kevin had 30 points before and that meant he dominated the game. Today, however, his 30-point performances are just another statistic.” Thomas said.
“They are, in short, empty numbers. If he did that until some time, then I knew the match was over and his team won. Now, Idon’t know anymore.” Thomas added.
This season, Durant has been averaging more than 30 points. But despite his exceptional scoring abilities, the Nets have struggled and have dropped three of their first four games.
However, not all NBA statistics point to Durant as a dominant player. In fact, some have already expressed the sensation revealed by the Detroit Pistons idol.
Durant has the second worst plus/minus ratio in the league at the moment. The Nets lost their rivals by 64 points while the winger was on the court this season.
He played in all five of the Nets’ games and, as a result, has 33.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.0 assists. In addition, he has 1.8 blocks and 53.2% of success in field shots. All of these numbers, however, have been unable to lead the New Yorkers to more than one win this season so far.
