Italy Serie A Results: Juventus Lost 0-3 to Fiorentina

Fiorentina managed to beat host Juventus with a 3-0 score in the Italy Serie A match at the Allianz Stadium, Wednesday (23/12).

Fiorentina managed to steal a quick goal from Juventus through Dusan Vlahovic in the third minute. The goal was a counter-attack scheme that managed to surprise Juventus.

When Franck Ribery had the ball, he saw Vlahovic move up front. Ribery then sent a through ball to Vlahovic.

The striker with the number nine back was able to win the race against Juventus players and successfully beat Juventus goalkeeper, Wojciech Szczesny with calm.

The situation got even more difficult for Juventus as they had to play with 10 men in the 18th minute after Juan Cuadrado was sent off. Cuadrado was shown a red card after tackling Gaetano Castrovilli.

Referee Federico La Penna issued a red card after seeing the situation through VAR.

The 1-0 score lasted until the first half ended.

In the second half, Andrea Pirlo put Federico Bernardeschi to replace Alvaro Morata. However, these efforts have yet to show results.

Until the match entered the 70th minute, Juventus were still 0-1 behind Fiorentina despite winning the ball.

Dejan Kulusevski also came on to replace Weston McKennie in the 73rd minute. In the midst of trying to find an equalizer, Juventus conceded again.

In the 76th minute, Alex Sandro misses the ball and sends the ball into the net.

Juventus’ suffering is not over. In the 81st minute Martin Caceres scores the third for Fiorentina. Caceres took advantage of a low cross sent by Cristiano Biraghi.

The match ended 3-0 for Fiorentina. After the match, the coach of the Old Lady, Andrea Pirlo, could not cover up his disappointment.

Andrea Pirlo realized that the game was not going well for his team. Pirlo said that Juventus had been wrong from the start of the match.

“We started with the wrong attitude and if you do that, then you will have this bad situation,” said Pirlo as quoted by BolaSport.com from Sky Sport Italia.

“It could have happened in the last game before Christmas to start thinking about the holidays, but we were slow and unfocused, so we inevitably lost,” Pirlo added.

The 0-3 defeat to Fiorentina was the first defeat for the defending champions in the Italian League for the 2020-2021 season.

Juventus stuck in fourth place in the Italian League standings by collecting 24 points from 14 matches.

The distance between Juventus and the top standings, AC Milan, is now 7 points.

The Old Lady received a 3 point deduction following the result of the Napoli appeal which was granted by the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI).

Previously, Napoli was sentenced to lose 0-3 to Juventus following a strike action on October 4, 2020.
