Jadon Sancho will hold talks with Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag, sources have told ESPN, following a row between the pair following the 3-1 defeat at Arsenal.
Sancho will return to Carrington on Monday along with the rest of the players who were not involved in matches during the international break.
This will be the first time the 23-year-old has come face to face with Ten Hag following his decision to publicly deny statements made by Ten Hag that he was not included for the match against Arsenal due to his poor performance in training.
In social media posts still online, Sancho said it was “absolutely not true” and that he had behaved “very well in training.”
Ten Hag will make a decision on Sancho’s future following talks with the former Borussia Dortmund winger.
United, according to a source, will support whatever Ten Hag decides and all options are on the table.
A source told ESPN that Sancho’s fate will be determined independently of other factors, including Antony’s absence.
The Brazil international was given time to leave the club amid allegations of abusive behavior towards three women and there was no timeframe for his return.
Antony’s absence means Ten Hag’s squad is further depleted following injuries to Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, Raphaël Varane, Mason Mount and Sofyan Amrabat, but a source told ESPN that Ten Hag will not take that into consideration when deciding what punishment should be imposed on Sancho.
The Red Devils are considering a possible loan deal that would include a mandatory or optional clause to make it permanent.
He has scored 12 goals in 82 appearances since joining Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund for £73 million in 2021.
United have tough games against Brighton, Bayern Munich and Burnley after the international break and if Sancho cannot be selected, Ten Hag will be missing Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund, Alejandro Garnacho and Facundo Pellistri as the only players fully fit.
United face Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford on Saturday before starting their Champions League campaign with a trip to Bayern Munich four days later.
