Jadon Sancho was inflamed after being teased by Manchester United coach Erik Ten Hag at a press conference. This happened after The Red Devils – nicknamed Manchester United – were humiliated with a score of 1-3 by Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, Sunday (3/9/2023).
Erik Ten Hag did not include Sancho in Manchester United’s squad against Arsenal. After the match, the Dutchman indicated that the English player was no longer part of his squad.
Ten Hag indicated that Sancho was not training well. The former Borussia Dortmund striker was deemed not to meet Manchester United’s quality requirements.
“As for Jadon, this is related to his performance during training, so we don’t choose him. You have to reach that level every day at Manchester United,” said Ten Hag as reported by The Athletic, Monday (4/9/2023).
“You can make choices on the front lines, so in this match he was not selected,” added the former Ajax Amsterdam architect.
Sancho couldn’t take it. He also responded via social media by denying Ten Hag’s statement that he had tried hard in every training session.
“Please don’t believe anything you read! I don’t allow anyone to say things that are not true, I’ve tried to train very well this week,” wrote Sancho on his personal Twitter, @Sanchooo10.
It didn’t stop there, Sancho always considered himself a scapegoat. Nevertheless, he is determined to work hard so he can get back into the core squad of the team nicknamed the Red Devils.
“I believe there are other reasons why I can’t go (to London), I’ve been made a scapegoat for a long time and it’s not fair, what I want to do is play football with a smile and contribute to the team,” continued the England national team winger.
“I respect any decision of the coaching team, I play alongside fantastic players and I’m grateful, and I understand every week is a challenge, so I will continue to fight for this logo (Man United) no matter what,” he concluded.
Sancho’s performance has declined since moving to Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2021. This resulted in the player not being called up to strengthen the England national team at the 2022 World Cup and also affected his mentality.
Ten Hag had sent Sancho to the Netherlands to train independently so that his performance would return to what it was like when he was playing for Dortmund. But unfortunately, Sancho’s performance during the training session still failed to satisfy the coach.
