Jannik Sinner doesn’t seem to be slowing down after he sealed a ticket to the semifinals of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells for the 2024 season.
The Italian tennis player now has 19 wins in a row after he defeated Czech tennis player Jiri Lehecka 6-3, 6-3 to advance to the semifinals of the BNP Paribas Open.
Competing in windy conditions, the 2024 Australian Open champion overcame Lehecka’s game and found consistency in crucial moments. He only made 13 unforced errors, much less than the 35 unforced errors made by the Czech tennis player. Apart from that, he broke the 22 year old tennis player three times in the quarter-final match which lasted 1 hour 25 minutes.

“I feel very happy because the situation on the field is different,” said Jannik Sinner, who is now 16-0 in the 2024 season.
“In the morning, it was really windy and in the first set, it was quite difficult to overcome that situation. He is an extraordinary player and has great potential, so I am aware of every point I take.”
“On the other hand, I just feel happy because I made it to the semifinals last season and this season I get another opportunity to play in the semifinals again in this tournament. This is one of the most prestigious tournaments we have had all season, so I feel really excited.”
Winning 36 of his last 38 matches, the third seed is now aiming for a third consecutive title this season after winning the Australian Open and Rotterdam Open. He is also aiming for the second Masters title of his career after he won the title in Toronto last season.
The Italian tennis player, Sinner, can continue his rivalry against Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinals of the BNP Paribas Open this season with the Italian tennis player narrowly leading 4-3 in their head to head. The defending champion from Spain will face Alexander Zverev in the other quarter-final.
Lehecka beat two strong players, Andrey Rublev and Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets before advancing to the quarter-finals of the Masters 1000 tournament for the first time in his career. But he had no answer to overcome Sinner’s slick play.
