Jay Idzes displayed a great game even though Venezia lost to Lecce in the 11th week of the Italian League, Monday (11/25/2024) local time.
Competing at the Pier Luigi Penzo Stadium, Venezia had to admit defeat 0-1 to the visiting team. Lecce’s only winning goal was scored by Patrick Dorgu in the 70th minute.
Despite losing, Jay Idzes has quite positive statistics. Sofascore noted that Idzes received the second highest score among other Venezia players.
Jay Idzes received a score of 7.2 along with his partner in the back line, Marin Sverko. These two players were only beaten by Michael Svoboda who was given a score of 7.5.
Idzes played the full game when Venezia hosted Lecce. He successfully made two clearances and one block against an opponent’s shot.
Not only did he perform well in Venezia’s defense, Idzes was also able to create opportunities. He even almost scored a goal in the 38th minute.
The golden opportunity was created from a dead ball situation. Nicolussi Caviglia released a cross into the middle of the penalty box and was met by Idzes’ header. Unfortunately, the ball hit the crossbar.
In addition, Jay Idzes also almost contributed to creating opportunities. Jay Idzes’ movement which ended with a pass to Alfred Duncan almost resulted in a goal after Duncan’s left-footed shot was still blocked by the Lecce goalkeeper.
Unfortunately, in the 70th minute, Venezia conceded a goal through Patrick Dorgu through a shot from inside the penalty box.
Until the match ended, Venezia were unable to score a reply goal and had to accept a 0-1 defeat at home.
This series of negative results has made Venezia increasingly slump at the bottom of the standings. I Lagunari is in 20th position with 8 points from 11 Serie A matches.
Jay Idzes et al must immediately rise to get out of the relegation zone. However, the next opponent they will face will be mid-table team Bologna on December 1.
