Jesse Lingard is likely to stay at Manchester United until the end of his contract after the offers of Newcastle, Tottenham, West Ham and Everton failed to convince the Red Devils.
The reason given is because of which deal they want to get the most money back. However, it seems that United will not get any money from Lingard in the January 2021 transfer window.
United could hand Lingard a new contract to protect his market value and the 28-year-old is believed to be keen to fight for a first-team place.
Lingard starred in a loan spell with West Ham in the second half of last season, scoring nine goals and registering four assists in 16 matches.
Former United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer kept Lingard at the squad this season but rarely used him.
Under United current manager Ralf Rangnick, Lingard has only played once. In the current England national team, Lingard is no longer called up by coach Gareth Southgate.
“What I can say is he’s a very good player, a technical play and he can play in many Premier League clubs on a regular basis.” Ragnick said.
“Here at Manchester United, it’s not so easy because we have other players who play in that position and we cannot change from one game to the other in five or is positions.
“Therefore, the question for him is, I know that his contract is expiring in the summer, but the question is what does he want to do? Does he want more game time from now on, then I think it’s quite legitimate to speak and think about other options.” Ragnick added.
According to reports, Atletico Madird showed an interest in the playmaker during the recent transfer window, only to be frustrated in their attempts to sign him.
Diego Simeone is looking to bolster his squad as he gears up for a title challenge against Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona.
