Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard has been denied a place in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side. This made two clubs interested in using Lingard’s services, one of which was the Italian giant, Inter Milan.
As is known, Lingard has struggled to gain the trust of Solskjaer since last year. The decline in his performance was the cause of the Man United academy fostered player not getting into the first team.
However, Lingard’s performance improved again after being loaned to West Ham United in the second half of the Premier League last season. He managed to score nine goals and four assists in 16 appearances for the Hammers – West Ham’s nickname.
Thanks to his slick appearance, West Ham was rumored to be interested in signing Lingard on a permanent basis. However, it did not materialize and he is still in the Man United squad this season.
Reported from Sportsmole, Saturday (4/9/2021), Inter are reportedly ready to bring Lingard in the winter transfer market. In addition, last season’s La Liga champions, Atletico Madrid, are also reportedly interested in signing the 28-year-old.
Both teams are indeed intending to defend their title this season. Inter want to remain victorious in the Italian League and Atletico also want to continue to dominate the Spanish League.
Lingard’s arrival at one of those clubs will add depth to their squad. However, Lingard will be more likely to move closer to Italy.
Because, Inter may have lost the best ability of Cristian Eriksen, who has a heart problem, and needs a cover for Hakan Calhanoglu. Therefore, Lingard could be the right choice for Inter.
Meanwhile, Atletico have just loaned Saul Niguez to Chelsea and repatriated Antoine Griezman from Barcelona on loan. In addition, Atletico also still has Joao Felix.
If Lingard joins Atletico, his playing time may not be much different from the time he played for Man United. As a result, Lingard is more likely to move to Inter in January 2022.
