Germany national team head coach Joachim Low would call Thomas Muller for squad return if needed, according to reports.
Low shocked German football in March 2019 when he announced World Cup-winning superstars Muller, Mats Hummels and Jerome Boateng were no longer in his plans.
Speaking to media, former German head coach, Franz Beckenbauer, heaped praise on Muller who has 100 caps for Germany.
“He’s an absolute leader. His personality would obviously do the national team good. Thomas is in an extraordinary form. I even believe that he has never been as strong as now in his entire career.” Beckenbauer said.
Muller on the other hand, insisted that he is not interested in returning to the Germany squad in 2021 and prefers to play in the Bundesliga alongside Bayern Munich.
“I’m not interested in it at all. I care about this team Bayern and winning trophies with them, ideally three. But the longer I think about it, the more I’m angry about the way this has happened.
“Obviously in recent months, with the successes of our team and the role I have played, the question of my selection has resurfaced, but there have also been very clear statements from all sides for the moment it is not relevant,” Muller added.
Low has been focusing more on the next generation of German players ahead of Euro 2020. However, he may change his mind to bring Muller and Boateng back to the squad.
“I am not clairvoyant, I do not read in the future and I do not know what is happening will pass in March or April. We may have some injuries next year and in that case we can change our mind. But at the moment I see no reason to change our direction.” Low said.
