Suzuki Ecstar is currently in good form and arrives at the European Grand Prix with two riders vying for the title of world champion.
Leader of the MotoGP standings, Joan Mir relies on relentless regularity – 6 podiums in the last 8 races – and will try to build on this momentum in Valencia. He has often obtained good results: twice Moto3, and in MotoGP last season, but this time has to manage with the pressure of being world number 1.
“The last time I was slightly disappointed to have finished third, only because I felt I had the potential to do better. However, my goal was to get on the podium and I managed to do it.” Mir said.
“Overall I’m feeling good right now and I’m ready to fight in Valencia, a great circuit that I’m familiar with. It’s good to get back to the track on Friday morning and have another racing weekend.” Mir added.
His teammate Alex Rins has nothing to lose: coming back from nowhere thanks to his two rounds in Aragon: first and second, he is only 32 points behind and will be in Valencia in a hunter’s position. A third consecutive podium would allow him to register a little more in the fight for the title. Conversely, a poor performance would risk ending his chances.
“I don’t feel a lot of pressure coming into these last three races- My results have been really good and I hope to keep that momentum going, but I just want to keep working like I always have and see what happens.” Mir said.
“I’ve had some good results in Valencia in the past so I’m happy to get back on track and see what we’re capable of this weekend.” he added.
