Pramac rider Jorge Martin has decided to part ways with Ducati after a fruitful four-year partnership.
Instead, he has chosen to embark on a new adventure with Aprilia, signing a multi-year deal that will commence in 2025.
Martin’s decision to join Aprilia indicates his determination to continue his racing career and prove himself in a new environment.
“I am focused now, I have a clear mind and I feel like I can do a good job because in Mugello it was very difficult for me mentally and emotionally.” Martin said.
“Even if I tried to stay away from my future it was still difficult to concentrate.
“But on Sunday I was strong so I am confident that with a clear mind I can concentrate on racing.” Martin added.
Currently, Martin finds himself in the midst of a championship battle with factory Ducati rider Francesco Bagnaia and Gresini’s Marc Marquez.
Heading into the Dutch Grand Prix at Assen, Martin holds a small but significant 18-point lead in the standings.
When asked about the factors that influenced his decision to sign with Aprilia, Martin cited the team’s dedication to innovation, their commitment to providing him with a competitive bike.
“As a professional motorcycle racer, my ultimate goal is to compete at the highest level and achieve great results.” Martin said.
“While I appreciate the hard work and dedication of the Aprilia team, I believe there is room for improvement in terms of bike performance.
“While I appreciate the efforts of the Aprilia team, there are a few areas where I believe we need improvement.
“Firstly, the bike’s power delivery needs to be more consistent and smooth, especially during acceleration.” Martin added.
With Martin’s impressive performances in MotoGP, including his current position as the championship leader, there are high expectations for him to bring fresh energy and competitiveness to Aprilia.
