The coach from Portugal, Jose Mourinho, is sure that Cristiano Ronaldo and his team will be successful at Euro 2024. Mourinho really hopes that the Portuguese national team can make this happen because he feels that the current Seleccao das Quinas squad is capable of competing for the title.
Of course, Portugal’s success will require the role of their superstar, namely Cristiano Ronaldo, who is widely considered to be one of the best players in the world. Despite being almost 40 years old, CR7 shows no signs of slowing down, and is still scoring plenty of goals for club and country.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has played a key role during qualifying for Euro 2024. The Euro 2016 champion scored 10 goals in nine games as Roberto Martinez’s men produced a perfect qualifying campaign.
Ronaldo is now set to become the first player to play six European Cups in a row. Incredibly, no other player has done it more than four times in a row or vice versa.
Therefore, Mourinho feels that the current generation of the Portuguese national team led by Ronaldo can be successful in the 2024 European Cup which will be held in Germany from 14 June to 14 July 2024. Plus, many Selecao das Quinas players play for some of Europe’s best clubs,
“I believe Portugal can win EURO, and I hope so,” said Mourinho, quoted from Sportskeeda, Friday (16/2/2024).
“This generation is capable of doing it,” added the coach nicknamed The Special One.
Ronaldo is now the top scorer, after scoring his 874th goal for club and country in Al-Nassr’s 1-0 win in the last 16 of the Asian Champions League on Wednesday (14 February 2024). No other player has touched the 850 mark.
