Jose Mourinho has given his reaction following Manchester United defeat against Juventus in Champions League at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.
United have been crushed 1-0 by Juventus. Paulo Dybala scored the only goal of the Tuesday night as Italian champions dominated at Old Trafford.
Mourinho, however, admitted that there is a gap between his team and the Serie A giants. The “Special One” believes that Juventus’s strong signings this summer further strengthen the team’s strength.
“Juventus have Higuain, Manjukic, Dibala, but they still want more, they want Ronaldo. They have Barzagli, Chiellini, Rugani, but they are still not happy, they want more, they want Bonucci.” Mourinho said.
“They pursue the best players in the world. So you see, the giants not only own a glorious past, there is also a strong desire to pursue a brilliant future.” Mourinho added.
When asked of United showed too much respect to Italian rivals on last Tuesday, Mourinho said it was a different level quality between both teams.
“I don’t think it is too respectful to Juventus. Their strength, stability and experience are at different levels from us.” Mourinho said.
“Juventus is the 7th consecutive championship in Serie A. In the past 4 or 5 years, it has reached the Champions League final twice. They are not satisfied, they want more.
“I think Juventus is the type of team that when they are in front its very difficult. I think our attacking players, things were not coming. But everyone tried, everyone was strong mentally to try until the end.
Paulo Dybala scored the only goal of the Tuesday night as Juventus dominated at Old Trafford.
“Juventus felt it and they ended the game with an extra central defender to add to the amazing Chiellini and Bonucci. It was a really difficult match for us. I thought we could take something but it was not possible.
“Want to reach the level of Juventus? The level of Barcelona? The level of Manchester City? How can you achieve that level? Yes, it is to buy the best player.
“But it’s not easy, because many good players are top teams. So we work hard to improve the players we have and work hard with them.” Mourinho added
Juve are top with nine points in the Group H standings. United trail five points behind in fourth. If the Italian champions beat United in the return fixture in a fortnight’s time, they’ll have won the group with two games to spare.
