Manchester United officially fired Jose Mourinho from the manager’s seat following the negative results experienced by the Red Devils in various events in the middle of this season. The club on its official Twitter has announced that the Portuguese manager has left Old Trafford.
Jose Mourinho’s dismissal also happened after Manchester United got the Champions League last 16 draw, Monday 17 December 2018, against Paris Saint-Germain.
“Manchester United have announced Jose Mourinho has left the club. We want to thank him for his work at Manchester United and hope he will succeed in the future,” a club statement on Twitter.
Mourinho has made United spend out funds amounting to 419 million pound sterling, during the 2.5 seasons of his coaching period. Ironically, Paul Pogba, the most expensive player United brought to Mourinho for £94.5 million just warmed up the bench waiting his colleagues like being taught to play football by Liverpool at Anfield.
In the last few months, Mourinho and Pogba’s relationship has been stretched and the coach has never hesitated to raise criticism in the media to the world championship midfielder. Apart from Pogba, another purchase from Mourinho in January 2018, Alexis Sanchez, also didn’t appear because he was struggling with injury. Sanchez was brought from Arsenal with a dowry worth of 30.6 million pounds plus Henrikh Mkhitaryan, of which one and a half previous seasons were bought for 37.8 million pounds.
Previously, Mourinho claimed to be able to receive compensation funds of up to £ 24 million, if the Man United board of directors immediately dismissed him. Such compensation funds are referred to as one of the considerations that make the Red Devils club owner, Joel and Avram Glazer, had been reluctant to fire the Portuguese coach.
Manchester United insisted that they would soon appoint a caretaker to replace Jose Mourinho. The Caretaker will handle Manchester United until the end of the Premier League season. At present, Manchester United are also selecting candidates for the position of permanent coach at the club.
A number of exhortations from fans and former players to club owners to immediately kick Mourinho after the Red Devils defeated by Liverpool 3-1 at Anfield Stadium on Sunday (16/12).
Let alone competing in the championship path, to finish in the top four, Man United need extra effort. Manchester United is currently still stuck in sixth place until week 17 of the Premier League 2018/2019 or 19 points adrift of Liverpool who are top of the standings. The club finally fired the manager on Tuesday (18/12).
