After a glorious victory Manchester United is on a new high and it has all the reasons to be for showing a great game against opponents. However there is something interesting which happened and is drawing everyone’s attention. At Manchester United’s dinner a lady reportedly joked to Jose Mourinho that he would be sacked. Mourinho often cuts a steely figure on the touchline.
But the Manchester United boss has often demonstrated over the years that he has a sense of humour too. The Daily Mail claim a member of staff jokingly said to Mourinho he “often looks as though he has the weight of the world on his shoulders” and that it “didn’t matter as he would be sacked soon anyway.”
And the former Chelsea manager showed his softer side by finding the remark hilarious. It is claimed that the United boss is a far cry from his sulky demeanour behind the scenes. Prior to their Europa League win over Saint-Etienne last week, Mourinho took great joy in seeing inexperienced Eric Bailly handle media duties.
The Portuguese took pictures of his defender in the spotlight on the sly and sent them to his team-mates – who no doubt enjoyed them. Mourinho has had run-ins with officials and angered the FA during his time in the job so far. But his softer approach in the dressing room looks to be key in bringing the glory days back to Old Trafford.
Rather Manchester United players were rewarded by Jose Mourinho after EFL Cup final. Manchester United are so focused on competing on the three remaining fronts they did not hold a post-match party after their EFL Cup final victory. M.E.N. Sport understands United players split up to enjoy a relaxing evening with friends and family rather than gather for a celebratory do after their Wembley win on Sunday.
The United squad enjoyed a reception at their London hotel after last year’s FA Cup success but Jose Mourinho has given the players two days off in an attempt to capitalise on a rare midweek without any fixtures. Players are expected to return to training at the Carrington training complex on Wednesday ahead of Bournemouth’s visit on Saturday in what will be United’s first Premier League game in three weeks.
On days off, United players are welcome to head to Carrington to work on their fitness, which is what Henrikh Mkhitaryan did the day after he was overlooked for the goalless draw with Burnley in October.
