Jose Mourinho admitted that he was not sure that the Italian national team could win Euro 2024. According to him, Gli Azzurri did not have talented players in the team.
UEFA Euro 2024 will take place in Germany on 14 June–14 July. A total of 24 teams will compete to win the Henri Delauney trophy.
Meanwhile in the 17th edition, Italy was the favorite to become champion. Because, the team made by Luciano Spalletti has the status of defending champion after winning Euro 2020.
However, Mourinho is not sure that Italy can defend its title. According to him, Lorenzo Pellegrini and his friends do not have talented players in the team to appear at Euro 2024.
“I don’t believe it. They don’t have a very talented squad and I don’t believe they will win again,” said Mourinho, quoted from Football Italia, Sunday (9/6/2024).
The Special One said there are six countries that are favored to be champions at Euro 2024. They are the Portugal national team, the French national team, the English national team, the Spanish national team and the host German national team.
“I think almost everyone sees it the same way, whether Portugal, England, France, then even further Germany and Spain,” he concluded.
The Italian national team is in Group B of Euro 2024 along with Spain, the Croatian national team and the Albanian national team. You could say, this is a hellish group!
