Jose Mourinho has been slammed for his treatment of three Manchester United stars, who have been damaged under him. The Red Devils have finished the season in poor fashion after going a year without any silverware. In their last four matches they have mustered just one goal, including in the FA Cup final. Despite finishing in their best league position since Sir Alex Ferguson retired, there have been constant reports of discontent within the United ranks.
And former Arsenal striker Ian Wright believes Mourinho is at fault for alienating certain players. “There has been friction with Paul Pogba, who should be given the licence to take games by the scruff of the neck,” Wright said. “While poor old Luke Shaw needs an arm around the shoulder, not a constant stream of digs. “And for Jose to claim after the Cup final that United were the best side was just wrong. “You can’t tell people the opposite to what they’ve just watched.” Wright was also critical of the former Chelsea coach’s treatment of Marcus Rashford. “Eighteen months ago you could have put [Rashford] in against Real or Barcelona and he’d have been outstanding, playing with flair and without fear. “Now he looks like a kid fresh out of the academy who is desperately trying to impress. “Anything, in fact, but the English jewel we’d unearthed who could take the World Cup by storm.”
Manchester United chiefs have reportedly told Jose Mourinho he must get the best out of Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez. The Chile international made the move to Old Trafford in January but has struggled for form so far. Henrikh Mkhitaryan made the switch to Arsenal as part of the deal, and has settled in well for the Emirates outfit. Sanchez has managed just three goals in 18 appearances for the Red Devils and was slammed for his performance in the FA Cup final. United legend Paul Scholes said: “His performances, well they have to improve. ”They can’t get any worse to be honest with you.” Pogba has become another figure that has come under intense scrutiny this year. The Frenchman arrived as the world’s most expensive player at the time, but a number of lethargic performances this year have been noticed.
