Jose Mourinho’s and his methods go under microscope

Manchester United F.C’s, Jose Mourinho is always in news for some or the other reason. Jose Mourinho is known for his tirades against referees which is something very common and even sometimes at his own players. Mourinho took no time in getting his office at Chelsea’s training complex getting renovated as per his taste and likes. This is his second tempestuous tenure at the West London Club and Jose himself believes and said once that “I think the best place to work in football is England.”

At the centre of his office a custom built coffee table and framed under the glass were the front pages of three Italian newspapers, each one celebrating and showcasing a different trophy Mourinho had won during his glorious final season at Inter Milan. In addition to these were the books strewn across the surface in different languages – English, French, Spanish and Portuguese, Japanese with a uniform theme that they were all biographies of Mourinho. Mourinho’s face, that five o’clock shadow, his salt and pepper hair beamed out of each cover. Since he took charge of Manchester United four months back he has wasted no time in personalising his new space at the club’s Aon Training Complex.

The entire place now looks like a place which has Jose Mourinho’s and his achievements all over. It loudly talks about Jose Mourinho everywhere and one witness his previous triumphs his state of the art bike. Soon he will have another book to his collection. “Jose Mourinho: Up Close and Personal” which is to be published in Britain next week though it has already caused no turbulence yet.  Persona recognition matters to Mourinho and this is the reason that his offices, wherever he works are transformed into shrines to his greatness and he manages by aura more than any of his peers.

Almost everyone knows that Jose Mourinho landed the Manchester United job inpsite of some reservations about his abrasive style but he is perceived as a guarantee of success. He simply does not believe in any high minded principles or present himself as the symbol of some great philosophy. He only asks his players and his supporters and his employers to subscribe to him unquestioningly to the cult of his personality. Jose Mourinho than leads, they follow and everyone wins.

But now these have been two trying weeks where three defeats in the span of seven days which has brought a bright start to Mourinho’s time at Old Trafford to a crashing halt. With this questions have started coming up and questions about his failure. Jose Mourinho now needs to do something or make a strategy to get the team in form or be prepared for a long list of questions to be answered.
