Manchester City manager Josep Guardiola provides the latest news regarding Kevin de Bruyne’s future. He confirmed that the midfielder would not leave the club this summer.
De Bruyne has defended Man City since 2015 after being brought in from Wolfsburg. The 33-year-old midfielder has scored 102 goals and 170 assists in 382 matches for the club.
De Bruyne’s contract with Man City expires in 2025. Recently it was reported that the midfielder could leave the club this summer.
It is claimed that De Bruyne will continue his career in Saudi Arabia. The Belgian player has reportedly reached an agreement to move to Al Ittihad.
Amid rumors about his departure, De Bruyne apparently has no plans to part ways with Manchester City.
Guardiola confirmed that De Bruyne will stay at the Etihad Stadium next season.
“No, Kevin will not leave,” said Guardiola as reported by the BBC.
Guardiola himself does not deny that there will be changes to his squad in this transfer market. However, he guaranteed that almost 90 percent of his squad would remain the same as last season.
“If someone leaves, we will talk about it and, of course, until the last day we have a chance,” he continued.
“I’m not ruling out new players as an option, but I think there’s an 85, 90, 95% chance we’ll have the same squad.”
