Jurgen Klopp is said to have officially left Liverpool if he loses to Real Madrid in the last 16 of the 2022-2023 Champions League. This was conveyed by the famous world football commentator, Richard Keys.
As is known, Liverpool failed to show good performance throughout the 2022-2023 season. In fact, The Reds – Liverpool’s nickname – are stumbling in the middle of the 2022-2023 Premier League standings.
Currently, Liverpool are in 10th place by collecting 29 points from 20 matches. Worse, in their last five matches in the 2022-2023 Premier League, Liverpool have only been able to win one win, of which the other four have been passed with three defeats and one draw.
Seeing Liverpool’s performance which has not improved, Richard Keys believes that Jurgen Klopp will soon leave Anfield. Klopp will do that when the Reds are eliminated in the Champions League.
“My guess is that Klopp will leave. Not now, but if they are knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid,” said Richard Keys, quoting from the Daily Mail page, Thursday (9/2/2023).
Furthermore, Richard Keys also mentioned that Jurgen Klopp was the cause of Liverpool’s downfall this season. Even Keys also said that the Reds’ midfield was too old.
“Liverpool’s fall is Klopp’s responsibility, he didn’t regenerate immediately. What was he thinking by keeping James Milner, Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara? They are past their best, and now Liverpool’s midfield is too old or not good enough, “continued Richard Keys.
If Liverpool decide to keep Klopp until next season, Keys is pessimistic that the Reds can find their best performance again. He believes that whoever will be in charge of Liverpool next season will have a very tough job. “Whoever is in charge next season at Liverpool will have a tough job.
