Stephen Warnock believes Liverpool’s future is bright even though they failed to win the Champions League this season. He felt Liverpool had undergone major changes in recent years, and that change was moving in the right direction.

Jurgen Klopp is a fully responsible person. Since handling the Reds four years ago, he changed a lot of things for the development of the team. Now, Liverpool is back to being one of the strongest teams in Europe.

It’s true that Klopp hasn’t presented a trophy, but Liverpool are getting closer. This season, they occupied the Premier League runners-up with 97 points, just one point behind Manchester City who won.

Liverpool also reached the Champions League final in two consecutive seasons. This is the third chance for Klopp, before he had brought his team to reach the Europa League final and Champions League last season.

What if Liverpool again failed to become champions this season?

According to Warnock, Liverpool have got a coach who is very precise when appointing Klopp. Klopp came not only to bring short-term changes, he also prepared a long-term plan for Liverpool.

“Klopp is creating a legacy. He is trying to build the foundation of Liverpool’s long-term vision. He returned the good times that once existed, he understood everything about the club, and people began to enjoy Liverpool again,” Warnock said.

“His attitude is always relaxed, and he tries to channel that attitude to the players. He is just trying to give a positive spirit to the team, and the players translate it on the field.”

Even so, football is easy to forget. Without a trophy, Klopp’s contribution will soon be forgotten. This season’s Champions League Final is not only important for Liverpool, but also for the coach.

“It will be a big blow if they fail in the final, but they do a lot of things right, and now there is a feeling that soon the trophy will arrive. There is optimism around Liverpool as a whole,” continued Warnock.

“Last season, there was little doubt when against Real Madrid, but because of the season Liverpool have just been running at the moment, there is more confidence.”

“They know they have to prepare themselves and they are used to getting full attention. The three European finals in four years are a big thing for any club,” he said.

2018/19 Champions League final match Tottenham v Liverpool will be played at Wanda Metropolitano, Madrid on Sunday (2/6) morning
