‘Jurgen Klopp would manage team Manchester United better than Jose Mourinho does’

Jurgen Klopp would find life in this Manchester United side easy if he was the manager. That is the opinion of pundit and former Manchester City defender Richard Dunne. United’s dismal season reached a new low on Sunday as defeat at Liverpool made it their worst start at this stage since 1990/91. Mourinho’s side are now 19 points behind league leaders and eleven points behind the top four. Many agreed that the theme from the defeat at Anfield was the contrast between the directions the two sides are now heading in. Speaking on BeIN SPORTS, Dunne slammed Mourinho’s tactics and questioned whether they’re good enough to bring success to a club as big as United anymore.

Presenter Richard Keys asked him: “What if the managers were in the opposition dug-out?” And Dunne replied: “I think the style of football Mourinho plays is now outdated. “I don’t think teams win stuff playing in that style. “I think the players who play under a manager like Klopp or Guardiola or Emery enjoy their football. “They show that they’re enjoying their football by putting in performances like that. “If you say that a club’s team represents their manager’s image, I think Man United play exactly what Mourinho looks and sounds like.”

Sadio Mane gave the Reds the lead before Jesse Lingard notched an equaliser. Klopp is turned Liverpool from doubters into believers Two goals from substitute Xherdan Shaqiri were enough to take Liverpool back to the top after Manchester City beat Everton. Keys then asked the former Republic of Ireland international: “So you think Klopp could get a very different tune out of Manchester United?”

Dunne replied: “I think he could add an enthusiasm and belief to them, passion towards what they’re doing. “Man United don’t have any sort of plan or drive to start with.”
