Juventus and Dybala Anti-climax Relationship Similar to Del Piero

Paulo Dybala will part ways with Juventus at the end of the 2021-22 season. The player did not renew his contract which expires on June 30, 2022. Paulo Dybala’s departure is similar to what happened to Juventus legend, Alessandro Del Piero. This further completes his comparison with the former Bianconeri captain, nicknamed for Juventus.

Del Piero spent 19 years with Juventus. He entered the Bianconeri squad in 1993 and left in 2012. During his time with the Big Lady, Del Piero appeared in 705 competitive matches with a contribution of 290 goals.

He also presented a number of prestigious titles, including the Champions League and six Scudetti aka Serie A champions, the highest caste of the Italian League. Del Piero wears the number 10 shirt at Juventus. The player became an idol of the Turin public and was greatly appreciated.

Not surprisingly, when the club announced that Del Piero did not renew his contract in October 2011, all eyebrows were raised. Because, the player is still competitive even though he is 37 years old. Del Piero was still a regular in the first team the previous season and was an important part of the squad.

But in the last season in Turin, coach Antonio Conte began to get rid of him. Del Piero was left out of the first team and he was surprised by the announcement of Juventus Chairman, Andrea Agnelli, that he was leaving. This disappointed Del Piero.

The chairman’s decision made the Italian football legend completely forget about Juventus. Since leaving, he has never been to Turin to watch Juventus matches. “Why? I don’t think we have time to explain,” Del Piero told ESPN in June last year.

Indeed, Juventus want to part with Del Piero. This makes the club management do not want to sit down to discuss a new contract with the legend. This fact makes Dybala’s fate similar to Del Piero’s.

In fact, Dybala has also become a star since being signed from Palermo in July 2015. During seven seasons at Juventus, this tiny Argentine striker has contributed 115 goals from a total of 291 competitive matches.

Last year, there were reports that Juventus and Dybala had reached a verbal agreement on a new contract. But everything changed, especially after CEO Maurizio Arrivabene commented to the media that the deal was uncertain. It’s natural for Dybala to be upset and angry.

In March 2022, Dybala’s agent met with Juventus management to clarify his client’s future. After that, the media reported that Dybala would leave on a free transfer in the summer

Prior to the meeting with Dybala’s agent, Arrivabene had already announced the 28-year-old’s future. He said the club had already made a choice in January when it bought Dusan Vlahovic. Yes, Juventus are willing to spend 80 million euros in the January 2022 transfer market. They bought Vlahovic from Fiorentina while ensuring Dybala will leave.

It seems that Juventus are already taking steps because they feel Dybala will not accept a new contract. The club felt it was the right time to part with the number 10. That is, Dybala suffered a fate similar to Del Piero. The relationship that used to be so warm and harmonious feels anticlimactic because this is not the warmest parting.
