Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has warned the club that he will leave if Erling Haaland arrives from Borussia Dortmund this summer.
La Liga giants Madrid are reportedly working on the transfer of Borussia Dortmund goal machine Haaland.
Los Blancos are one of several clubs interested in signing Haaland whose release clause becomes active at the end of the season.
They don’t want to miss out on such a talent in case they fail to land Haaland’s signature, whose future is pretty much in the air at the moment.
Dortmund have not given up hope of persuading him to stay with them for another year, and are looking for an answer in the coming weeks.
Haaland is still under contract with Dortmund until 2024, but according to media reports, he can leave the club in the summer of 2022 for a 75 million euros.
Benzema on the other hand, he would be happy to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu if the club signs Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain.
The French international won’t be looking to leave the club as he gets on well with his international teammate.
“I enjoy with him (Kylian Mbappe) in the national team and in the future, why not? He is a great player, but you have to respect PSG. I have always said it and I say it again; I hope we will play some day.” Benzema said.
According to reports, Benzema has informed president Florentino Perez that he will be forced to leave the club if he gets Haaland.
Haaland might be favouring a move to the Manchester City. If that happens, though, it seems like Madrid are already preparing for a backup.
In 13 Bundesliga starts this season, the number 9 has scored 16 goals and assisted 5 more. He also has three goals on his name in the Champions League.
