Karim Benzema on Saturday has just scored a hat-trick in Real Madrid’s 4-2 win over Almeria, thereby setting a memorable milestone in the club’s history.
As a result, Benzema reached 350 goals with the opening goal against the visitors, breaking Cristiano Ronaldo as the only other player in club history to do so.
Madrid president Florentino Perez personally handed over the shirt in honour of 350 goals to Benzema marking his personal historic in the club.
Benzema has been playing in outstanding form lately. The 35-year-old striker scored his third straight hat-trick this month with three goals against Almeria Saturday night.
He had done before the same thing against Real Valladolid and Barcelona. That means Benzema has three hat-tricks in eight games, the same number he had in his previous 120 games for the club.
The spectacular performance reminded fans of his peak form last season, when he also scored hat-tricks against PSG and Chelsea in the Champions League, then ascended the throne and won the Ballon d’Or at the end of the season.
Furthermore, with three goals, Benzema has closed the gap on La Liga’s top scorer, Robert Lewandowski.
It’s important to note that because Benzema often has to stop playing due to injury, he scores 8 fewer goals than the rivals.
Benzema has scored 28 goals so far this season, but only in 36 games due to physical issues that have kept him out of as many as 13 games.
He has now scored 352 goals in 642 games for Real, Real’s second most of all time, behind only Cristiano Ronaldo with 450 goals.
However, that achievement is still enough to help him surpass the legends Raul (323) and Alfredo Di Stefano (308) on the ranking of the best strikers in Los Blancos history.
