Manchester City’s mainstay midfielder, Kevin De Bruyne feels at home playing at The Citizens – the nickname of Man City. Therefore, the Belgian player chose to stay and did not think about leaving Man City.
Man City spent 55 million pounds to bring De Bruyne from Wolfsburg in 2015. The Belgium international has also become a mainstay of Pep Guardiola.
Meanwhile, De Bruyne’s contract with Man City will expire in June 2025. He admits that he wants to stay at Man City, even though he is 31 years old and can still show good performances.
“There is a misconception that you are past your prime at 31! I feel good and I played well, so hopefully I can stay as long as possible,” said De Bruyne.
Despite having a three-year contract with Man City, De Bruyne admits it is a long time. He explained that he would continue to play, but did not know when to choose retirement.
“I have three more years on my contract here and that’s a long time. As long as I’m fit and happy, I’ll play, but it’s hard to decide now how long.”
Furthermore, De Bruyne explained that he would play until the age of 35 or 36 years. However, he wants to be at a good club and has challenges.
“I can see myself still playing at 35, 36 years old. But it has to be the right club, the right challenge,” he explained. So far, De Bruyne’s game is still the core of Man City’s game. So, it is predicted that Man City will still retain De Bruyne.
