Kevin / Marcus Won Nine Championship Titles in 2018

Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo / Marcus Fernaldi Gideon has won nine championships throughout their trip in 2018. This year’s championship is open at the Indonesia Masters event which takes place on January 23-28. Kevin / Marcus’s journey from the last 32 to the final in this event is quite smooth.

In the final match, Kevin / Marcus defeated Chinese partner Li Junhui / Liu Yuchen. Indonesia won with a score of 11-21, 21-18, and 21-16 in 57 minutes. After Indonesia Masters, Kevin / Marcus recorded wins in three consecutive tournaments thanks to their success in becoming champions in the Indian Open and All England.

At the Indian Open, Kevin / Marcus defeated Kim Astrup / Anders Skaarup, 21-14, 21-16, while at the All England, Minions conquered Mathias Boe / Carsten Mogensen. Kebin / Marcus’s fourth degree came from the 2018 Indonesia Open event which took place at the Bung Karno Stadium. Kevin / Marcus confirmed the title by beating Takuto Inoue / Yuki Kaneko, 21-13, 21-16.

A month later, in the same place, Kevin / Marcus won the 2018 Asian Games gold medal. Kevin / Marcus won the All Indonesian Final match against Fajar Alfian / Muhammad Rian Ardiant. 13-21,21-18, 24-22. The Japanese Open tournament is the next tournament won by Kevin / Marcus. In the final round, Kevin / Marcus defeated Li Junhui / Liu Yuchen, 21-11, 21-13 to win the sixth title.

The seventh title won by Kevin / Marcus this season comes from the Denmark Open tournament. In the final round, Kevin / Marcus defeated Takeshi Kamura / Keigo Sonoda, 21-15, 21-16. This seventh title is at the same time as the Kevin / Marcus 2017 season record. Kevin / Marcus then won the eighth and ninth title in the last two weeks. At the China Open, Kevin / Marcus beat He Jiting / Tan Qiang, 25-27, 21-17, 21-15.

While at the Hong Kong Open, Kevin / Marcus finished Kamura / Sonoda’s resistance, 21-13, 21-12. They defeated Sakura State’s pair in 35 minutes. Both couples had fought over the numbers until 6-6 in the first game. But, the Indonesian pair managed to lead 11-7 at the interval. The rest of the games are easier for the Red and White pair. Kevin / Marcus won 21-13. The second game runs is not much different. In fact, Kevin / Marcus has won 7-2 in the first game and continues at 11-7. After the interval, Kevin / Marcus is still speeding. They lead 15-7 and locks the victory 21-12. This victory made Indonesia steal a championship from the only representative in the final round.

Kevin / Marcus still has a chance to add to their title this season because they will be performing at the World Tour Finals, next 12-16 in Guangzhou.
