Kimi Raikkonen arrived in Russia with only one idea in mind during the Russian Grand Prix at Sochi; to deliver the best possible performance until the end of his last season played under Ferrari team.
Since the announcement of his departure from Ferrari at the end of 2018 season, a question remains unresolved for the last 6 races. The Finn does not have much to say about Antonio Giovinazzi, his future team-mate at Sauber.
Sauber signed Giovani to partner Raikkonen for 2019. The Italian driver has been placed at the Swiss team by Ferrari, as he is a member of their young pilot programme.
“I’m not worried about that, I want to finish this season in the best possible way, and then I’ll think about 2019. It’s all the same for me, though, that rolls by my side.” Raikkonen told to journalist.
“We have some rules at Ferrari, but that’s also true – if we still want to win the world title, then we have to be in the lead with both cars. The way we do it is always the same: we try to do the best possible each time.” Raikkonen added.
Raikkonen admits he enjoyed racing in Sochi despite its characteristics difficult to apprehend. The 38-year-old driver said he will not miss chance to experience exciting emotions at the Russian GP.
“We’ve had really boring races here in the last few years, because the track surface is not a problem for the tyres, we’ve been on the track for an eternity,” Raikkonen said.

“When you have no tire degradation everyone rolls about as fast and there is no overtaking, so I cannot wait to see what the DRS stretched area is going to change.
“Sochi is a strange track, you have to ride very cautiously and find a good pace, and if you attack too hard, you’re not faster, you even get slower, I like this track.
“Sochi enjoyed racing in Sochi – the track lends itself to close battles. I particularly enjoy Turn Three; it’s sweeping, multi-apex left-harder that require a lot of precision.” he added.
Ferrari has confirmed Charles Leclerc to replace Raikkonen in 2019. The 20-year-old driver has impressed in his rookie campaign for Sauber this season.
