Liverpool coach Juergen Klopp has to pay a fine after the celebration he did against Everton in Week 14 of the Premier League on Sunday (12/02/2018). Klopp was carried away by the euphoria of Divock Origi’s 96th-minute goal which won Liverpool over their city rivals Everton. Klopp runs to the middle of the field while jumping and even hugging Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker. Now, the English Football Association, FA, has officially fined Klopp for 8,000 pounds. The fine was given to Klopp for being proven to have careless acts when celebrating.
On the contrary, Kloop’s happiness is contrast with Everton goalkeeper, Jordan Pickford, who suffered bad luck in the last minute. Pickford was about to fend the ball when it turned out to be only slight bounce with a close distance in front of the goal. As a result, the ball was headed by Divock Origi to give Everton a defeat.
Klopp himself said that he was quite sorry for overreacting at the time. “I don’t want to do it and promise that this won’t happen again,” Klopp said. “However, the moment at that time was very special so I did the celebration,” Klopp said.
Everton boss Marco Silva has taken a magnanimous stand over Jurgen Klopp’s celebration of a late Merseyside derby winner on Sunday, insisting his Liverpool counterpart did not deserve to be fined. Silva mentioned: “About the rules, is the FA. They decide. If you ask me, I think he shouldn’t [be fined]. But the FA has to decide the rules.” He added, “Of course in that moment, the manager cannot think of fines or not. It’s a moment to celebrate.
Because of the victory, Liverpool is still sticking to Manchester City in second place in the Premier League standings. As of now, Liverpool has collected 36 points from 14 games they played, which is 5 points behind current leader. Next, they are going to face Burnley FC on 5th December 2018. Burnley currently position at 19 in the EPL with total score of 9 points from 14 games. Burnley has won only one of their eight Premier League games against Liverpool at Turf Moor in August 2016.
