Klopp blasts away

If you have been following the long going fiasco between Gary Neville and Liverpool’s young goal keeper Lorius Karius, you would know by now that Neville isn’t a very big fan of Liverpool. Inevitably though, since his playing days.
It all began back in November after Liverpool’s loos at Bournemouth. The match also produced a very below par performance from Karius, who joined Liverpool in the summer from Mainz and instantly became Klopp’s first choice keeper. Following the post-match punditry, Gary Neville described the German’s performance as a one which “transmits anxiety amongst his defenders”. As a reaction to Neville’s remarks, Karius responded
‘And I don’t care what Gary Neville said. He was a top player, then he was a manager for a short bit and now he is back to being an expert again.
“But he is always very critical. I think he does it to everyone. I just hope that when I do well he will comment on that. We will see in the future.”
It didn’t end there however, as Phil Neville came out to support his brother in another session. He advised the German to “keep his mouth shut”.

These remarks coupled with some latest ones didn’t sit too well with Jurgen Klopp who came out all guns blazing against the brothers this time.

“He showed he struggled with the job to judge players so why do we let him talk about players on TV?” Klopp said.

“The Neville brothers – the one who was the manager he obviously should know that too much criticism never helps” he added.

“The pundits, former players most of them, have forgotten completely how it felt when they got criticised. Especially the Neville brothers; the one who was the manager, he obviously should know that too much criticism never helps. But he is not interested in helping a Liverpool player I can imagine, but that makes things he says not make more sense. I don’t listen to them.”

“I am pretty sure [fellow Sky pundit] Jamie Carragher doesn’t speak too positively about Manchester United players. Obviously the Neville brothers don’t like Liverpool. By the way, you can tell him I am not on Twitter so if he wants to tell me something Twitter doesn’t help.”

Gary Neville later took to twitter to respond to the German by tweeting “Haha. I’m not a chef but I know a good steak!”

Gary Neville maybe eloquent in post and pre match analysis of his, however the Englishman’s managerial career hasn’t been as prolific. He only failed to win 11 out of 28 games with Valencia when he was appointed their head coach back in December 2015. Maybe Klopp has a point when he criticizes Neville. Someone with that kind of a bad managerial run, of all people, should understand that there are many things that can go wrong when it comes to managing a team.
