The New York Knicks are open about their intend to sign star Zach LaVine in trade. The New York squad has been keeping an eye on the guard for more than two years, but they have never been able to strike the right deal.
However, according to Hoopshype journalist Michael Scotto, interest has grown in recent weeks.
Rumours grew that LaVine would be one of the first names to leave the team with the Chicago Bulls in a bad shape for the season.
Recently, the problems between LaVine and the Bulls would be accelerating a process of wear and tear. So the easiest way would be to get out of it.
But the Knicks appear as one of the destinations in the event of a Zach LaVine trade. However, it is important to emphasize that other teams are also interested.
However, the Dallas Mavericks, the Los Angeles Lakers appeared as options. In fact, he would even like to play for the Lakers, according to league executives.
LaVine being in his first year following the contract extension, speculation about him leaving in exchange grows by the day. The player will earn US$37.1 million in 2022/23.
“The Knicks already tried to get Donovan Mitchell. But the team only seems to have eyes for Zach LaVine. Management monitors the player, so they wait for the chance for him to become available.” Scotto said.
“But I think he already is, and if so, the Knicks are going to try. But at the same time, looking at the trading side, it’s good to know that the team will want to squeeze the Bulls. But there was that exchange from Rudy Gobert, which ruined the market.” Scotto added.
At 27, LaVine has been with the Bulls since 2017/18. Since then, he has only managed to qualify for the playoffs in one season.
In the last campaign, the athlete made his debut in the most important phase of the NBA, but Chicago fell in the first round. At the time, the team was eliminated after five games.
