Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman spoke about his special relationship with Lionel Messi. At the end of the contract next June, the Argentinian could be living his last season with the Blaugrana.
Messi’s performance on the pitch seems disturbed by the many questions about his future. If a departure in summer is not to be excluded, but Messi remains one of the strong men of Barcelona according to Koeman.
Meanwhile the Blaugrana presidential candidates have all promised that Messi will remain loyal to the Catalan club.
“In principle and for any player: if he is fit to play and if he is good, he plays. Even though Leo is older than before, he is still a player who enjoys being here at the club and above all winning games.” Koeman said.
“He enjoys every day in training and is very involved. As a coach I talk to my players and I also talk to Leo about all this and other things because he is the captain of the team. There are the locker room talks and we’re not just talking about the game.” he added.
The Dutch coach also spoke about his decision to join Barca last summer, despite the difficult situation in which the club found itself.
“I had the dream of training Barcelona. I don’t think you can wait until it all works out fine either. If a team performs very well, a team does not change coaches,” Koeman said.
“I don’t know if I was brave, I think any coach who has the opportunity to come here will say to me: ‘I am coming’. I came for the affection of people, for the affection of the club, for my personal relationship with Barca.” Koeman added.
