KTM Rider Made History in Czech MotoGP

Redbull KTM Factory Racing team racer, Brad Binder, made a surprise by winning the championship podium in the 2020 Czech MotoGP. Brad Binder, who started the race from seventh position, successfully sealed the Czech MotoGP title at the Brno Circuit, Sunday (9/8/2020).

The racer from South Africa clocked 41 minutes 38.764 seconds to finish fastest in the 2020 Czech MotoGP main race. Brad Binder defeated the Petronas Yamaha SRT racer, Franco Morbidelli, who finished second. Brad Binder also managed to beat the pole position winner in the 2020 Czech MotoGP qualification, Johann Zarco, who had to settle for occupying the third podium.

This is a historic victory for Brad Binder. For the first time in his career, Brad Binder successfully won the championship podium in the MotoGP class. Last season, the 24-year-old racer was still competing in the Moto2 event. Not only that, Brad Binder is also listed as the first rookie to win in the premier class.

Previously, the record belonged to Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda) to win the championship podium at the 2018 MotoGP Americas in Austin. Brad Binder’s victory at the Czech MotoGP 2020 is also a history for South Africa. Binder is now listed as the first racer from South Africa to win a MotoGP race.

The success of making history by occupying the podium of the Czech MotoGP champion made Brad Binder very happy. Brad Binder’s victory at the Czech GP also brought the South African national anthem to ring for the first time at the end of a MotoGP race. No wonder his eyes filled with tears when he heard the beautiful national anthem when he was on the main podium.

The racer who was born on August 11, 1995 did not expect to win the title in the Czech MotoGP. “This is the day I dreamed of since I was little,” said Brad Binder in his remarks after winning the Czech MotoGP race.

“Now, I am speechless. It’s amazing to win my first grand prix. I really hope my parents are here, they have supported me from the start,” added Brad Binder.

Brad Binder proved that KTM was not wrong in making a decision by promoting himself after becoming the world runner-up in Moto2 2019. In his first season in MotoGP, Brad Binder has managed to present the first victory for KTM in the premier class. The victory in the Czech Republic means Brad Binder is now in fifth place in the 2020 MotoGP standings.
