Kylian Mbappe criticised his own club in an Instagram statement, insisting that he was made too prominent in their season ticket promo, admitting that he was not informed of the content and disagrees with the video.
Paris St-Germain on Thursday posted a video on social media on advertise subscription sales for the coming season.
However, the clip only features Mbappe and several young players from the club. But there’s no Neymar, and especially no superstar Lionel Messi.
“I just took part in the viewing of the club’s resubscription campaign for the 23/24 season.” Mbappe said on Instagram.
“At no time was I informed of the content of the interview with my interlocutor. It looked like a basic interview during a club marketing day. I don’t agree with this published video. That’s why I’m fighting for rights to the individual image.
“PSG is a big club and a big family but it is especially not Kylian Saint-Germain. Sincerely. Kylian Mbappe,” he added.
Mbappe became PSG’s all-time top scorer earlier in the 2022-23 campaign, and has extended his record in the French capital to 202 in just 251 games.
He currently has a deal in France that will expire in 2024 amid reports a move to Real Madrid is still on the cards in the future.
But, there are ongoing rumours about Mbappe’s exit. The French lost for the second consecutive year in the round of 16 of the Champions League, foremost because his teammate Neymar was not sold.
“The atmosphere, the mood, the space. The Parc des Princes envelops many things. It’s the twelfth man that brings us strength. It means being proud of what you are and what you represent.” Mbappe said.
“Proud of it, ambitious to be, to have the will to win, to always surpass yourself and never forget where you come from,” he added.
