Barcelona won dramatically, 3-2, over Elche on matchday 18 at the Camp Nou Stadium, Saturday (18/12).
In the first half, Barcelona managed to open the scoring through Ferran Jutgla in the 16th minute. Ousmane Dembele provided a cross from a corner into the center of the Elche penalty box. Ferran Jutgla, who was standing guard against the opposing defenders, managed to make an accurate header.
Elche goalkeeper, Edgar Badia, seemed unable to block the ball from Jutgla’s header. The score became 1-0 for Barcelona’s advantage.
Barcelona successfully doubled the advantage through Gavi’s hard kick in the 19th minute. Receiving feedback from Clement Lenglet, Gavi also made a shot that made Edger Badia helpless.
Next, Ferran Jutgla tried to add to his goal coffers after making a shot inside the Elche penalty box. However, the ball from Ferran Jutgla’s kick was still able to be saved by Edgar Bandia.
Another opportunity came for Barcelona after Osumane Dembele got a chance in the penalty box. However, this opportunity could not be used as a goal after the player’s shot went wide to the right post. Until the first half was over, Barcelona was still winning 2-0 over Elche.
In the second half, Elche almost cut the distance from Barcelona after Luca Boye got a chance in the penalty box. However, Lucas Boye’s final finishing was still not optimal after the ball was still wide to the left side of the goal.
Striker Ferran Jutgla came close to scoring the second goal of the game after his left-footed shot was parried by goalkeeper Egad Badia in the 58th minute.
Elche could only reduce the position to 1-2 in the 62nd minute thanks to Tete Morente’s kick.
Disaster for Barcelona happened one minute later. The visitors scored the equalizer through Pere Milla who took advantage of Ronald Araujo’s blunder.
As a result of Araujo’s mistake, Elche built an attack until Morente finally released a cross which was met with Milla’s header.
Barcelona failed to win again after Jutgla threw away a golden opportunity to break into Elche’s goal. After receiving Pablo Gavira’s cross, Jutgla was in an ideal position to score. However, a flick in front of Elche’s goal made the ball fly over the bar.
Luckily the Blaugrana have a substitute like Nico Gonzalez. Gonzalez, who was played in the 72nd minute, again put Barcelona 3-2 ahead in the 85th minute after using Gavi’s cross.
Gonzalez’s goal was also the determinant of Barcelona’s victory over Elche, 3-2. The victory over Elche was the first in the last three matches in La Liga.
