Frank Lampard learned a valuable lesson after being fired by Chelsea that his status as a legendary player did not make him anti-sacked.
Lampard was officially fired as Chelsea coach after spending 571 days since officially managing the Blues on 1 July 2019.
Approximately one and a half seasons at Stamford Bridge, Lampard’s statistics are not that good. Both on the domestic scene and in European competitions.
Transfermarkt noted, Chelsea under Lampard’s control has played 84 games in all competitions, 44 wins, 15 draws and 25 defeats. There is no single title that can be presented as a tactician.
Lampard is in the spotlight as Chelsea have only managed four points in their last eight Premier League games with one win, one draw and six defeats. The last defeat came when they beat by Leicester City 0-2 last week.
The man from England was once celebrated when he was still actively playing at Chelsea. Lampard is listed as one of the top scorers at Stamford Bridge despite his position as a midfielder.
However, Lampard’s achievements as a player were not as good as when he was Chelsea’s coach. He was under great pressure after the management recruited a line of star players.
Lampard is considered to have failed to build the West London team as a team to challenge the Premier League champions despite the arrival of star players such as Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech.
The abundant funds spent by management are not comparable to Chelsea’s achievements in the hands of Lampard. Timo Werner et al are now only able to dwell in the middle board or rank ninth.
Despite his lack of experience, Lampard is believed to be successful with the Blues because of his legendary status and abundant financial support. However, that prediction missed.
Chelsea management no longer tolerate Lampard’s performance that falls short of expectations. Now, the Blues are reportedly looking for a new, more experienced coach. Former Paris Saint Germain coach Thomas Tuchel is touted as an ideal figure.
Lampard must learn a valuable lesson that the status of a legendary player cannot save a mediocre performance. Only a handful of former players have made the mark at their former clubs, including Pep Guardiola with Barcelona and Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid.
Frank Lampard admits he is disappointed not to get more time at Stamford Bridge.
“I am disappointed that I have not been given time this season to take the club forward and take it to the next level,” wrote Lampard on his personal Instagram.
Nevertheless, Lampard continues to thank all those who have helped him, including the trust that club owner Roman Abramovich has given him.
“I want to thank Abramovich, the board of directors, the players, my coaching staff and everyone at the club for their hard work and dedication, especially in these unprecedented challenging times. I hope this team and club can succeed here. the future, “he said.
