Lazio vs Milan draw in Coppa Italia Leg 1 Semifinals

Lazio play against AC Milan in the semi-finals of the 2019 Coppa Italia first leg at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome on Tuesday (26/2) evening local time ended in a goalless draw.

At least Lazio had two golden opportunities that were not used by them in the first round. Appearing at home to opponents, Milan played more dominantly. Gennaro Gattuso’s direction squad almost scored in the 17th minute starting from Tiemoue Bakayoko’s hard kick.

His ball had hit his teammate, Fabio Borini, so the ball slightly changed direction and fell to near Lucas Paqueta. He immediately fired a shot from outside the penalty box, but his shot could still be anticipated by Lazio goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha.

Entering the 26th minute, Lazio’s turn to create a golden opportunity. The home team defender fired hard, but it still bounced thin over the crossbar guarded by Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Lazio again endangered goalkeeper Donnarumma in the 38th minute. Milinkovic-Savic fired hard, but the ball still deviated from the I Rossonerri goal.

The squad made by Simone Inzaghi began to put pressure on the Milan defense so Donnarumma had to work hard. He thwarted the chances of the opposing team by shaking off Lucas Leiva’s ball in the 40th minute.

Scoreless scores lasted until halftime in the Coppa Italia 2019 semi-final first leg. Entering the second half, Milan tried again to take the initiative to attack. They opened opportunities in the second half, precisely in the 51st minute.

Piatek slid quickly after receiving a breakthrough pass from Paqueta. He immediately kicked the ball towards the Lazio goal, but Patrick’s foot could still be blocked so he only produced a corner for Milan.

Lazio’s turn resulted in a golden opportunity through Romulo’s cross which had time to hit Borini. The ball was successfully greeted Milinkovic-Savic header, but deviated.

Entering the 67th minute, Lazio again threatened the Milan goal through Milinkovic-Savic’s kick. His shot was pushed over by Donnarumma. The ball was bounced and dominated by Lazio player Joaquin Correa who immediately released a pulling pass, but the Milan goalkeeper could still be broken.

Lazio almost even left Milan behind in the 79th minute. Ciro Immbobile released a lob which lobed past Donnarumma, but hit the bar.

Rainy chances in the second half still did not create a single goal until the match ended in a goalless draw in the Coppa Italia 2019 semi-final first leg. The second leg at the San Siro Stadium will be held on April 23.
