League of Legends developer Riot Games has just launched the Legends Ascend South Asia tournament, a wildcard event as part of the League of Legends Championship Pacific (LCP) ecosystem. The tournament aims to provide an opportunity for amateur teams in the South Asia region to compete for a cash prize of INR 1,000,000 (Indian Rupees) and a ticket to the LCP Wildcard Playoffs.
Legends Ascend will run for four months, starting with online qualifiers, followed by a league stage, and ending with a knockout playoff phase. The event will feature intense competition between teams from countries across the South Asian region, including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, and the Maldives.
Registration for the inaugural edition has been open since April 27, 2025, and will run until August 3, 2025. The winning team will not only take home the cash prize but also earn a spot in the LCP Wildcard Playoffs, opening up greater opportunities to reach the promotion and relegation tournaments in the LCP.
According to Arun Rajappa, Country Manager for India & South Asia at Riot Games, Legends Ascend is a concrete step towards building a stronger League of Legends community in South Asia. The tournament is designed to create more opportunities for players and fans to engage in a larger competitive ecosystem.

The matches will be streamed live on Aftermath Ventures’ FragNation YouTube channel, giving League of Legends fans more opportunities to witness epic moments in South Asian esports. The tournament is expected to bring in rising stars from the region that have previously been under-the-radar, bringing new enthusiasm to the regional esports scene.
